Every Valentine’s Day, people end up talking about love. In business, the real challenge isn’t usually love at all.

Most solo business owners care deeply about what they do. The biggest struggle is attention; they’re pulled in too many directions, stretched across too many ideas and tied up in too many shoulds.

By the time they reach the work that genuinely matters, their best energy has already gone elsewhere.

If, like me, they’re ADHD, autistic or anywhere on the neurodivergent spectrum, the pull can be even stronger and even more exhausting.

Too many inputs.

Too many open tabs.

Too many demands competing for the same bit of bandwidth.

Instead of leaning into the predictable Valentine’s messaging about loving your business, here’s something far more practical:

Notice where your attention actually goes… It’s one of the clearest signals you’ll ever get about whether things are aligned or drifting.

Try asking yourself:

Which project or idea deserves more of my focus than it’s getting?

Where am I giving time that isn’t giving much back?

Which tasks drain me long before I reach the work I enjoy?

Where do I feel pulled because it matters, and where do I feel pushed because it’s expected?

Where does my attention drift when nothing is demanding it?

Your attention reveals your truth far more reliably than your intentions. When you notice where it naturally goes, you begin to see which parts of your business need depth, which need boundaries and which might be ready to end.

If you want a simple reflection for Valentine’s weekend, choose one thing you’ll give more attention to and one thing you’re ready to stop feeding. Even small shifts change the way your week unfolds.
