Not long ago, women’s football barely got a mention.
No big sponsors. No packed stadiums. No broadcast deals. Just raw talent, quiet determination and a whole lot of grit.
This weekend, Asha and I will be off cheering for the Lionesses as they take on Nigeria – live, with a crowd, full coverage and all the noise and energy it finally deserves.
But that didn’t happen overnight.
It took years. Decades. It took women showing up, playing hard and pushing forward – despite the criticism, the backlash and the blatant inequality.
It took resilience.
It took women refusing to step back, even when the world wasn’t watching.
And while we’ve come a long way, let’s be honest – there’s still more to do.
There’s still a gap. But the momentum is here, and it’s growing.
The rise of women’s football is a reminder that visibility isn’t handed to you.
You build it.
You show up, over and over again, long before anyone claps or takes notice.
And that’s the same for us.
Whatever you’re building – a brand, a business, a platform, a movement – it doesn’t need to explode overnight. It needs to be rooted in purpose and carried with consistency.
Here are a few things worth remembering:
1. Keep showing up – even when it’s quiet.
The world might not be watching yet, but your future clients, followers and allies are already paying attention.

2. You don’t need everyone’s approval to do your thing.
Backlash means you’re making noise. Stay steady. Keep going.

3. Progress takes time – but the impact lasts.
Play the long game. That’s where real change lives.

Here’s your thinking point for the week:
What are you building now that the world will thank you for five years from today?
Hit reply if that’s got something sparking – I always love hearing what you’re working on.
