Asha and I had been talking about launching a podcast for years.
It was one of those ideas that kept circling around us, waiting for the ‘right time’ to land.
You know the one – that mythical moment when everything lines up neatly, when you’ve got all the kit, all the time and some perfectly polished plan. It never came.
Then, one night at about half past ten, we stopped waiting. We made the decision there and then.
By the time we finally went to bed (technically the next morning), Awesomely Off-Topic existed.
We’d mapped out our first 18 episodes, created the brand, designed the graphics, made the jingle and recorded the intros and outros. No production studio. No team of experts. Just us, a decision and a bit of late-night determination.
Since then, we’ve recorded episodes in all sorts of places: in an office, at a garden centre, in the car, at the side of a busy street in Athens, on our phones and sitting at home on the sofa.
And it works!
We’ve already had hundreds of downloads, and the number keeps climbing. I’m looking forward to the day we’re celebrating thousands.
Podcasting doesn’t need to be complicated or expensive. We’re planning to guide people through it step by step, with no baffling tech talk or intimidating kit lists.
We’ll cover everything from creating your jingle to getting your sound clear without a studio, and show you how to make something brilliant with the gear you’ve probably already got knocking about at home.
If you’ve listened to Awesomely Off-Topic, you’ll know we start each episode by sharing something we’ve learned along the way. That wasn’t just a cute idea; it was our way of proving that you don’t need to be perfect to start – you just need to start.
We’re putting together a mini mastermind to help you launch your own podcast on a shoestring.
If that sounds like something you’d love to be part of, just hit reply and let me know. No fancy landing pages. No drama. Just a good, solid, get-it-done session.
You in?
