People talk about resilience like it’s something glamorous… like it’s a big cinematic moment with a swelling soundtrack and a slow clap at the end.

In reality, it’s rarely like that. It’s quieter. Less sparkly. More about quietly planting your feet, holding your ground and refusing to let someone else’s storm knock you flat.
These past few months, I’ve had more than a few chances to practise it. I’m not going to name names or rehash the details, because that’s not the point. What matters isn’t what happened – it’s what I chose to do with it.
Resilience, for me, isn’t about pretending everything’s fine. It’s not about turning everything into a shiny slogan or pretending betrayal or disappointment doesn’t sting. It’s about letting the hit land, feeling it properly, and choosing not to build your future on someone else’s bullshit.
It’s about keeping your power, even when someone tries to take it from you.

Sometimes resilience looks like taking a breath, walking the dogs and letting the world get quiet again. Sometimes it’s setting boundaries without fanfare.

And sometimes it’s just getting up the next morning, making a cup of tea and cracking on with building something brilliant anyway.

I know how easy it is to get stuck in someone else’s mess. To make their actions mean something about your worth or your future. They don’t. They never have.
If you’re in the middle of your own storm right now, please remember this: resilience doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it just stands up, brushes itself off and quietly says, not today.
