|Ever been thrown in at the deep end?|
It happened to me this week, when I was given the opportunity to run a workshop at the Great British Expo, in Bristol, last minute.
I didn’t worry about drowning. I didn’t splash around. I didn’t even splutter.
I embraced the opportunity and trusted my ability to get into flow.
When the time came, I sat at the head of the table as more and more people filed in.
“What are we working on?” one attendee asked.
“I’ve no idea,” I replied, “But we’ll find out in a few minutes.”
I kicked off by asking everyone to introduce themselves, tell us about their businesses and share the one block, or challenge, they’d like to overcome.
That left me with half an hour to workshop prioritisation, lack of direction and overwhelm, personal brand, sales and confidence.
Sounds like a tall order, doesn’t it?
This is where flow comes in!
Because I’d been employing deep listening skills during the introductions, together with some insightful questions, I’d been able to listen to what was bugging people ‘beneath’ the headline ‘problems’ they’d described.
I started out with some simple mindset tools to help people create a more positive mood and outlook, clear away any stressors before going to sleep and enable them to pre-programme energy, optimism and an awesome attitude for the day to come.
Then we talked about the power of setting an intention for each day.
From there, we moved into storytelling to build personal brand, using my timeline technique to pull out power-full life lessons.
We talked about using relatability to build audience and tribe, and how we could flip our negatives to create magnetic content AND build our confidence at the same time.
Then, we moved seamlessly into sales, covering the most common mistakes people make and how to overcome them, as well as sharing a couple of cracking sales methods that help us to genuinely serve others, whilst maintaining integrity AND being richly rewarded.
I closed the workshop by asking everyone to share their biggest take home message and ONE action they were going to take as a result.
BOOM! One workshop in the bag and plenty of awesome feedback.
