People sometimes raise an eyebrow when I talk about business and spirituality in the same breath. There’s this odd idea that you can’t possibly do both – that you have to choose between spreadsheets and soul, between grounded strategy and deep connection. That’s rubbish.
For me, business and spirituality aren’t separate tracks. They’re two parts of the same current. One keeps me aligned, the other keeps the lights on.
Spirituality isn’t something I dip into when I’ve got time to faff about. It runs through everything I do. It’s how I make decisions. It’s how I set boundaries. It’s how I trust my gut when the next step isn’t obvious. It keeps me rooted when the world’s trying to knock me sideways. And the business side gives all that shape, purpose and reach.
I’ve worked with plenty of people who’ve been hiding their spiritual side because they think it doesn’t belong in their business. They’re worried about being dismissed or not being taken seriously. The second they stop watering that part of themselves down, something shifts. Their message sharpens. Their brand wakes up. Clients find them more easily. And the work starts to flow instead of draining them dry.
If you’ve ever found yourself holding back your own spiritual side at work, here’s a simple exercise to start changing that.
Take a quiet moment to ask yourself three questions:
• Where am I currently dialling down what I believe in, just to make other people comfortable?
• What would shift if I allowed more of me into the way I lead, create or sell?
• What’s one small way I can start showing up more fully this week?
This isn’t about tossing your strategy out the window. It’s about weaving meaning and power through it. Knowing why you’re here, what you stand for and how you want to show up in the world – then building from that place.
And yes, there’s a world of difference between flakiness and depth. Flakiness drifts. Depth leads.
That’s why I created Soul-Full Success Academy. It’s an online group programme with a buzzing WhatsApp community and a monthly group coaching session via Zoom. It’s for people who want to build, lead and grow their businesses with real alignment and depth. People who are done with trying to squeeze themselves into someone else’s mould and want to do business in a way that actually fits who they are.
