I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say they don’t have a story worth sharing. They shrug it off, roll their eyes, tell me their life isn’t big enough, dramatic enough or inspiring enough. And every single time, they’re wrong.
If you want to start sharing yours, here’s where to look:
• Think about a moment when everything shifted – even a little.
• Ask yourself what changed, or what you learned.
• Notice what still makes your chest tighten or your throat catch when you remember it. That’s often the gold.
• And when you’re ready, don’t build a speech. Tell it like you’d tell a mate over a cuppa. Honest. Unpolished. Yours.
That’s why I’m bringing back my award-winning Heart of Speaking speaker-training retreat. It runs from 13–15 May next year and we’ve already filled more than half the places.
It’s for people who want to own the stage without faking a single second of it – who want to speak from the heart and actually make an impact.
Across those three days, we’ll dig into how to:
• Engage with your audience in a way that makes them lean in, not tune out
• Own the stage without posturing or performance
• Build a personal brand that works just as hard as you do
• Charge your worth confidently
• Find and secure the gigs that light you up
• Speak without a script or cue cards and still hold the room
• And no, you don’t even need to dick about with a PowerPoint if you don’t want to
Whether or not you ever join me for that, remember this: your story has weight. It doesn’t have to be neat and shiny to matter. Someone out there might be waiting to hear it in your voice.
